It’s nice to meet you!

I’m Lina, a creative designer and content director.

I grew up in a small town in West Michigan, then decided to move to Atlanta for a few years, and now reside just North of Los Angeles. While earning my BFA in Graphic Design from Grand Valley State University, I worked as a technical specialist at Apple — some may even call me a Genius. Not only did I learn technical skills, but working at Apple heavily influenced my design aesthetic.

My Design Aesthetic

All of my work has intentional white space, a clean grid structure, and an emphasis on typography. I believe the purpose of graphic design is not to senselessly decorate a page; rather, each element must be used purposefully. Another great influence on my design work is the well-known quote by Jared Spool,

"Good design, when it's done well, becomes invisible."

My Journey

During the last few years working as a professional creative designer and marketing manager, I've been studying digital marketing and communications through Michigan State University's Strategic Communications Master's degree program. The knowledge and skills learned in this program, paired with my background in graphic design, have been a crucial combination to my career success.

I have worked as a communications manager at a Community Foundation, a design and marketing manager at a real estate association management firm, and now as a content director at an award-winning digital marketing agency. As a seasoned creative designer and marketing/communications professional, I'm passionate about creating impactful communication strategies that drive results. I thrive in positions that allow me the space to be both strategic in marketing initiatives and allow me the creative liberty to design engaging, purposeful content.

My dedication to community engagement, collaboration, and creativity is what drives me to make a positive impact in the world. I feel fortunate to be a creative both in my professional career and in my free time. When I'm not doing design work, I spend much of my time building inventory and creating content for my small pottery business, TeraSol.

TeraSol has served as a creative outlet, a small income generator, and as a branding passion project. At the beginning of 2023, it was a goal of mine to completely rebrand my pottery business and win an GDUSA award for the brand design.

I was overjoyed to receive not one, but two GDUSA awards this year, one of which was for my TeraSol branding design. With a new logo, website, and social media aesthetic, I've successfully sold out my shop within 48 hours of launching the shop restock event. I utilized my product photography skills to capture elegant and consistent photos and social media videos of my pieces.

TeraSol truly embodies what I am most capable and passionate about — branding, design, creativity, and marketing. So, after you've glanced over my design portfolio, I encourage you to visit the TeraSol website.

I firmly believe that when you empower women of color, you uplift an entire community.

I am incredibly proud to have been a part of the founding members of Women of Color Give (WOCG), a philanthropy circle empowering and investing in projects for and by individuals of color along the West Michigan Lakeshore. It was an exceptionally rewarding experience to be involved in the branding design and launch of an organization that is positively impacting my hometown community.

By adding diverse voices and perspectives to the formal philanthropy landscape, WOCG is giving hope to other women of color and letting them know that their voice deserves to be heard. Watching the immense progress this group has made since we launched in 2019 has been incredible. I may not be in West Michigan physically, but my passion for this group and its mission has not changed. WOCG also serves as an example of projects that combine my love for community engagement with my branding and design skillset.
